Why Choose the Mount Sinai Clinical Track?
Mount Sinai’s Clinical Track in Cardiology was created to meet changing healthcare needs and offer balanced strength in all aspects of cardiovascular training. The training program is located across two campuses: Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens and The Mount Sinai Hospital on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where the program is based. This diversity of training centers and patient populations provides our fellows with some of the strongest clinical and academic training available. The Mount Sinai Hospital is situated at the intersection of East Harlem and the Upper East Side, providing a diverse patient population in a quaternary referral center. Experience on this campus provides opportunities to engage in cardiovascular research and advanced cardiac clinical care, with strong subspecialty sections in advanced heart failure and transplant, electrophysiology, cardiac critical care, advanced cardiac imaging, and interventional cardiology. Across the East River in Queens, Elmhurst Hospital Center provides an experience which complements training at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Elmhurst Hospital serves an area of Queens which is considered one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse communities in the United States. As part of the NYC Health + Hospitals network of municipal New York City hospitals, it acts as a safety net hospital for many underserved populations. This experience provides phenomenal hands-on training in cardiac clinical care.
From Our Fellows' Perspective
Ranbir Singh, MD
At Elmhurst, this program allows us to provide clinical care for a diverse population who present with diseases seen all over the world, unparalleled cardiac catheterization laboratory exposure, and one-on-one echocardiographic teaching with a world-renowned echocardiographer. In addition, we have hands-on rotations in a tertiary care setting within The Mount Sinai Hospital, where we work directly with experts in each field within Cardiology both clinically and academically. The program leadership also provides fantastic mentorship and career support for the fellows
Sonika Patel, MD
My experience at both Mount Sinai and Elmhurst hospitals have been crucial to my well rounded clinical cardiology training. This is a truly unique, fellow focused training program that provides you the clinical, academic, and leadership skills needed to provide high quality care to patients across all socioeconomic populations in the real world. This is further emphasized by our dedicated attendings on both campuses who provide a well balanced clinical and academic educational curriculum focused on optimizing fellow education.
Angie Seo, MD
Cardiology is an exciting field with many career opportunities and the various rotations across both campuses have enabled me to explore these options and build on my interest under great mentorship. Our fellows and faculty all play a big role in providing this balanced and diverse clinical experience that complement each other - especially as we collectively strive to learn and grow together as master clinicians.
