Program Curriculum
Our Sleep Medicine Fellowship is a 12-month training program with rotations across all Mount Sinai Health System sites and the Mount Sinai–National Jewish Respiratory Institute.
Clinical training covers the full spectrum of sleep medicine, including:
- Sleep disordered breathing, hypersomnolence, insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, parasomnias, and sleep-related movement disorders
- Sleep disorders across pediatric and adult populations, as well as medical, neurological, and psychiatric conditions with sleep-related presentations
- Scoring and interpreting polysomnograms, MSLT, and MWT
- Portable sleep monitor recordings, PAP device downloads, sleep diaries, and standardized sleepiness scales
- Sleep hygiene assessment and CBTI/ BBTI; comprehensive treatment planning
Weekly conferences include:
- Sleep Fellowship Bootcamp Series (July-August)
- Fellows Journal club
- Fellows Sleep case conference and PSG conference
- Grand rounds
Research & Scholarship
Fellows have protected opportunities to pursue research projects, present at national conferences, and prepare manuscript publications.
Typical Schedule
Sleep Medicine Conferences
Fellows Multi-Disciplinary Sleep and PSG Conference
(Wednesdays)
Three to four pre-determined sleep cases are discussed by having their clinical history presented in a multidisciplinary forum with sleep faculty, neurology, sleep laboratory staff, physician assistant and dentist.
Fellows Journal Club
(Wednesdays)
The fellow meets with one of the attendings in advance to review a sleep medicine article (chosen by the fellow or mentor) prior to discussion in conference
Sleep Fellow Bootcamp Series (Wednesdays)
We will include all the ACGME core curriculum topics given by our sleep faculty for a comprehensive understanding of sleep medicine as the fellows begin their fellowship.
Sleep Medicine Grand Rounds
(Wednesdays)
Lectures given by regional and nationally recognized faculty.
Sleep Data Club
(Fridays)
Sleep research conference led by research faculty and post docs.
Pulmonary Grand Rounds
(Fridays)
Fellows, faculty members, and guest speakers present various clinical and research topics in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine.
