Why Choose Mount Sinai?

Our fellowship prepares clinicians to become the next generation of academic sleep medicine leaders, in just 12 months.

What you'll gain:

  • Advanced knowledge across the full spectrum of sleep medicine
  • Expertise in screening, diagnosing, and treating sleep disorders
  • Hands-on proficiency in polysomnography, home sleep testing, and other sleep-specific diagnostics

Our program by the numbers:

  • 11 sleep laboratory beds across 3 Manhattan locations
  • 4,800+ sleep studies performed annually (in-lab and home combined), and 6,000 home sleep tests
  • $3 million + in annual NIH direct funding
  • A truly multidisciplinary environment: Our clinical team brings together adult and pediatric sleep specialists from pulmonary medicine, neurology, pediatrics, and ENT — alongside dental sleep medicine — offering fellows a breadth of training found at very few programs in the country.

Highlights of Our Training Program

The Mount Sinai Integrative Sleep Center treats the full range of sleep disorders, including the following conditions:

  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
  • Central Sleep Apnea
  • Circadian Rhythm Disorders
  • Insomnia
  • Narcolepsy
  • Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)
  • Parasomnias

Curriculum and Schedule:

Our fellowship schedule is built around each fellow's interests and career goals. A fellow pursuing pediatric sleep will spend more time with our pediatric faculty; one aiming for a physician-scientist career will have a schedule weighted toward research-supporting clinical activities.

How We Structure Training:

  • Protected time for research, reading, and case conference preparation — we deliberately avoid exhaustive clinical schedules
  • Quarterly check-ins with the Program Director to review rotations, address training gaps, and incorporate fellow feedback
  • Exposure to the full breadth of our sleep faculty, enriching the case mix
  • Structured review of in-lab and home sleep studies with multiple attendings
  • Sample schedules are available on the Program Curriculum page.
