Why Choose Mount Sinai?
Our ACGME-accredited fellowship training program in Transplant Hepatology provides trainees with an exceptional clinical experience across all facets of liver disease at one of the leading health systems in the United States in one of the most innovative and exciting cities in the world. Mount Sinai caters to a diverse population from all faiths and ethnic backgrounds, providing our fellows the opportunity to learn about and provide customized care that is fit to meet every patient's cultural needs.
The Recanati/Miller Transplantation Institute performs a high volume of liver transplants (over 150 annually), including living donation and multi-visceral transplantation. As a prominent referral center to other health systems throughout the United States, we treat patients with a high level of care that is unmatched. At Mount Sinai, our teams work together to address socioeconomic hurdles so that all of our patients have access to equitable care.
Fellows are integrated into our division as colleagues, and rotate through all key areas of patient care following a structured curriculum and mentorship program that is designed to equip them with skills that will enhance their careers as transplant hepatologists. The curriculum is strengthened through personalized research mentorship, scholarship, and fellow-led academic activities.
Our liver transplantation program benefits from a large faculty with expertise in all areas of hepatology. Throughout the course of the fellowship, trainees improve their endoscopy and percutaneous liver biopsy skills, and are asked to observe numerous procedures to complement their learning.
