John Andrilli, MD Honored With Prestigious ACGME Award
John Andrilli, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine (General Internal Medicine) and Program Director of Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West Internal Medicine Residency, has been honored with the prestigious Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). This award celebrates program directors who drive innovation, foster continuous improvement, and serve as outstanding role models for residents and fellows. Dr. Andrilli and his fellow awardees will be honored during the 2025 ACGME Annual Educational Conference in Nashville this February.

Alice Levine, MD Recipient of Prestigious Endocrine Society Award
Alice Levine, MD, Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Disease) has received the highly prestigious Outstanding Educator Laureate Award from the Endocrine Society. Andrea Dunaif, MD Leads PCOS Research That Drives Innovation
On August 26, 2024, at the "Stakeholder Meeting to Develop Common Reference Ranges for Testosterone Tests in Women and Adolescent Girls," Andrea Dunaif, MD, Professor of Medicine and System Chief for the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Disease, gave an overview on PCOS studies to develop reference intervals for testosterone. Additionally, she moderated the PCOS data needs session, guiding important discussions on the future of PCOS research. Her leadership in the field continues to drive innovation and improve outcomes for those women affected by PCOS.

Krishna Chokshi, MD, MS, Appointed Director of Clinical Ethics Consult Service at The Mount Sinai Hospital
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Krishna Chokshi, MD, MS, Associate Professor of Medicine (Hospital Medicine) as Director of the Clinical Ethics Consult Service at The Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH).
In this role, Dr. Chokshi will lead in the operations of the MSH Clinical Ethics Consult Service. Dr. Chokshi is an Associate Professor in the Division of Hospital Medicine. She is Co-Vice Chair of the MSH Ethics Committee and has been providing ethics consultation at MSH since 2018.

Mone Zaidi, MD, PhD Wins the Harriet P. Dustan Award
The Department of Medicine is delighted to congratulate Mone Zaidi, MD, PhD, MACP, Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Disease), on receiving the American College of Physicians' Harriet P. Dustan Award for Outstanding Work in Science Related to Medicine. Dr. Zaidi is the first Mount Sinai faculty member to be recognized with this distinguished ACP award. In 2016, he was also honored as a Master of the ACP, a notable achievement in its own right.

Raymond Benza, MD Recipient of CHEST Award
Raymond Benza, MD, Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) received the prestigious College Medalist Award at the 2025 American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) Annual Meeting.
This award recognizes Dr. Benza’s meritorious service in furthering progress in the field of pulmonary vascular diseases.

The 2024 NYC Regional Cystic Fibrosis Research Meeting
The 2024 NYC Regional Cystic Fibrosis Research Meeting was held at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai on September 11, 2024 and featured 10 outstanding presentations by scientists from Mount Sinai, Columbia University, and Yale School of Medicine. We thank the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for supporting this second annual meeting and look forward to developing the new friendships and collaborations.

Department of Medicine Students and Staff Participate in LMSA National Conference
The Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) National Conference is the flagship event held during Hispanic Heritage Month, a gathering of over 1,000 Hispanic and/or Latina/o/x medical and pre-medical students, resident and faculty physicians, organizational leaders, allies, and more. The conference was held at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles from September 20-21, 2024.

MCTO Team Members Influence Change
Creating a space to facilitate innovation and change within the clinical trials ecosystem. A Site Feasibility Task Force convened to evaluate the intricate processes of site feasibility in clinical trials. The goal was to foster mutual understanding of challenges and offer suggestions to enhance collaboration among sponsors, contract research organizations (CROs), and sites. Bringing together diverse teams with varied expertise fosters a broader range of ideas and solutions, effectively addressing complex issues and driving innovation in clinical research operations.

The Department of Medicine is proud and honored to work alongside three exceptional referral coordinators recognized for their great work and extraordinary contributions to the multispecialty team at Mount Sinai Morningside.
Team leaders and supervisors gathered to celebrate the three honorees over delicious "mocktails".
Audrey Asibey, Grace Bland, and Shariece Patterson-Walker embody excellence, dedication, and a team-centered approach in everything they do to advance the practice. The Department of Medicine thanks them and all the wonderful staff for their tremendous talent and hard work.

2024 Cullman Awards
A ceremony was held on October 30, 2024 for the Cullman Family Award for Excellence in Provider Communication to recognize and honor Mount Sinai Health System physicians and advanced practice providers who excel in communication within clinical practice. These providers rank in the top 5% nationwide (95th percentile) among over 117,000 providers surveyed in the 2023 Press Ganey patient experience assessments for outstanding communication with patients. There were several care providers in the Department of Medicine to celebrate, and we are incredibly proud of them for their commitment and dedication to their patients.

Master Educator: Acknowledges the highest level achievable for a faculty educator at Icahn Mount Sinai. This designation confers a distinct honor to faculty who have demonstrated exceptional performance in the field of medical education and requires impactful dissemination of educational scholarship.
