Internal Medicine/Medical Genetics Combined Residency Program
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai sponsors other Internal Medicine programs that are primarily based at hospitals other than The Mount Sinai Hospital. These programs should be applied to directly. You may apply to more than one program sponsored by the Icahn School of Medicine and this will not prejudice consideration of your application. The review of your application and the scheduling of interviews requires, at the minimum, your ERAS application, transcript, and Dean's letter. Additionally, we require a letter of recommendation from your Department of Medicine and letters from two faculty members. Please include a personal statement and curriculum vitae, in addition to the above, all through ERAS.
Mandatory Drug Testing
Consistent with Mount Sinai's commitment to a safe and drug-free environment for our patients and staff, all new employees, including housestaff, are required to pass a drug-screening test prior to beginning employment. Accommodation will be made for those taking prescription drugs.

Supplemental ERAS Application
For the current 2024-2025 Recruitment Season, the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) has created a supplemental application for candidates applying in Internal Medicine to be used in a pilot to assess the helpfulness of additional questions for the holistic review of candidates by programs. Applicants to our Internal Medicine Residency Program are not required to submit the supplemental application; it is entirely voluntary during this cycle. Regardless of the completion of this supplemental application, every candidate’s ERAS application will be reviewed in detail. We encourage candidates to complete the supplemental application in order to assess the usefulness of this tool during the pilot, but we will continue to review every application whether the supplemental questions are completed or not.
Interview Day
The interview season will be entirely virtual. Your session will typically include a greeting from the Chair of Medicine, interviews with faculty members[1] , and a virtual tour of our inpatient wards and outpatient clinics. You will also get to observe our daily resident Morning Report with the Program Director and Chief Residents, which is followed by an interactive virtual session with the Vice Chair of Education and the Program Director. There are also virtual social events with our residents so candidates can learn more about the collegial and supportive atmosphere of our program.
