The hospitals of the Mount Sinai Health System select trainees based on ability, without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, age, gender, marital status, military status, disability, citizenship, genetic predisposition, sexual preference or any other characteristic protected by law. The Department of Medicine accepts applications exclusively through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). Our program number is 140-35-21-301. Please select either of "Preliminary," "Categorical," or "Primary Care" tracks.

Interviews
We interview candidates from late October to late January. The interviews are conducted on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Interview Day
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this interview season will be entirely virtual. Your interview day will begin with an introduction by the Program Leadership, which includes, the Chair of Medicine, Program Director, Associate Program Directors and Chief Residents. You will have one interview during the day. You will also have an opportunity to attend virtual social events with our residents so you can learn more about the collegial and supportive atmosphere of our program.
For International Medical Graduates
J-1 Exchange Visa: International Medical Graduates (IMGs) in residency training in the United States have usually held a J-1 visa. The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office of Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West Hospitals is responsible for processing J-1 visa applications for physicians participating in clinical training programs.
H1-B Temporary Worker Visas: Under certain circumstances, Graduate Medical Education (GME) at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West may sponsor international medical graduates for H1-B visas to receive graduate medical education training. H1-B sponsorship is restricted to categorical candidates entering a training program of at least two years’ length, are ECFMG certified and have passed the USMLE step 3 by the time of the match result (usually mid-March). All sponsored candidates for H1-B visas must use the services of the lawyer associated with our GME. Other Work Permits: If you are expecting to receive a work permit by means other than a J-1 or H1-B visa, please review the circumstances with the program director or coordinator who will communicate this information to the GME Office.
Please note that we do not offer observerships or externships.
