Our Residents
Our residents match the diversity of the patients we serve. They come from New York City, the tri-state region, across the United States and all over the world. Our residents embrace the opportunity to learn about different cultures and traditions as much as from each other as from their patients.

Chief Residents 2025-2026
Jake Debroff, MD
Hello! My name is Jake DeBroff, and I am very excited to join the group of chief residents for the 2025-2026 academic year.
I am originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and received a degree in Neurobiology and Physiology from the University of Maryland, College Park. I spent one year doing clinical research at Penn State College of Medicine before attending medical school in Tel Aviv at Sackler School of Medicine where I was able to establish a medical education program at a local refugee clinic. Since joining the Mount Sinai health system, I have worked on the executive board of Medicine Council at Mount Sinai Beth Israel and have led multiple quality improvement projects pertaining to hepatitis screening and education at General Medicine Associates clinic in downtown Manhattan. Additionally, I am currently involved in a variety of research projects in the fields of hepatology and inflammatory bowel disease. I will be pursuing a career in Gastroenterology following residency.
During the 2025-2026 academic year I hope to foster a sense of community within the residency program and provide house staff with the best possible educational experience. I look forward to meeting you all in person and discussing more ways we can work together to create an excellent residency experience!
Sara Diaz Saravia, MD
Hi, my name is Sara Diaz, and I am delighted to be one of the 2025-2026 chief residents! I was born in El Salvador and went to medical school at Universidad Austral in Buenos Aires, Argentina. While in medical school, I got involved in medical care with community projects providing to underserved populations, which included malnourished children and impoverished families. I also got involved in cardiology research projects and discovered my passion for the field.
During residency, I got in touch with great and generous mentors that have helped me navigate my career goals and pursue my research interests in Cardio-Oncology. With their guidance, I have been able to start various research projects and work alongside other residents and fellows from different institutions. I am passionate about mentorship and enjoy helping others build their career paths. When not in the hospital, you can find me out running, trying out new restaurants with friends, or enjoying a walk in Central Park.
During chief year, I want to continue to foster our culture of collaboration and mentorship, as well as helping residents shape their career and their future with the many resources that are at our disposal. After chief year, I want to pursue a fellowship in Cardiology. I am looking forward to working with you all, and being of service in any way I can.
Evelyn Elias, MBBchBAO
Hi! My name is Evelyn, I am so excited to be one of your 2025-2026 chief residents!
I grew up in Toronto, Canada, and did my undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph in Ontario. After college, I moved back to Toronto to complete a Masters program at the University of Toronto in Health Services Research, focusing on program evaluation and implementation science. I went to the University College Dublin in Ireland for medical school, and couldn’t have been more excited to continue my training in New York City!
I have a keen interest in oncology and am on the committee for the American Society of Clinical Oncology Interest Group. I’ve enjoyed residency so far and I’m thrilled to have an extra year to be an advocate for my peers. I look forward to fostering a supportive environment that is conducive to learning, and to help residents have the best experience possible in their training.
I can’t wait to work with all my future co-chiefs and program leadership in continuing to deliver excellence in medical education and patient care.

Alexandria “Allie” Markley, MD
Hi, my name is Allie, and I am so excited to be a chief resident for the 2025-2026 year!
I am originally from Birmingham, Michigan. I went to Miami University for my undergraduate degree where I studied Sociology and Spanish. After college, I returned to Michigan for medical school at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. As a fourth year medical student, I did my sun-internship at Mount Sinai Morningside/West and was thrilled to match here for residency!
During residency, I have been able to meet many incredible people and expand on my interests. I founded the Gastroenterology Resident Interest Group, became a member of Women in Medicine, and joined the board of the Research/ Scholarly Work Council. I am also in the Medical Education Track and have a passion for teaching! I have enjoyed doing research in gastroenterology and started a food insecurity screening initiative at the Ryan Center.
During chief year, I hope to represent the interests and concerns of our residents and continue our culture of support and mentorship within the program. I am looking forward to working with my fantastic Co-Chiefs to continue to grow our residency program. I am always around to talk, play pickle ball, or try a new restaurant (especially if it is gluten free!)
Anna Mueller, MD
Hi, my name is Anna Sophie and I am so excited to be one of the future chiefs.
I was born and raised in Frankfurt, Germany. For medical school I went to Semmelweis University and was lucky to divide my educational time in Germany, Switzerland and Hungary. Being abroad at such an early age completely changed my life. It made me a more grateful, independent and open minded human. This experience is also what led me to the path of wanting to match into residency in the US.
Residency so far can be summarized as the hardest, most rewarding experience of my life. From being an overwhelmed intern, to growing into a more confident resident whose role now includes, not only patient care, but also being a team leader. I have loved being involved in research projects, improving my leadership and teaching skills, becoming a mentor, and baking enough to feed the whole hospital. It is also where I further deepened my love and passion for cardiology.
During chief year I want to be a support system to all of the residents. I want to lead with empathy, and I am incredibly excited to work on new ways to improve resident education and well-being. I’m so happy to be a part of this amazing team of chiefs and I cannot wait to start this new challenge.
Marni Wilkoff, DO
Hi everyone! My name is Marni, and I am thrilled to be one of your 2025-2026 chief residents!
I am from Long Island, New York and went to Hobart and William Smith Colleges for undergrad where I studied Biochemistry. After college, I worked as an Americorps member at the Ryan/Chelsea-Clinton Community Health Center enrolling uninsured patients in a program to receive free breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screening! I then went on to complete medical school at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. I rotated at Mount Sinai West during my 4th year and knew that this was where I wanted to go for residency!
I have a passion for teaching and mentoring others, and during residency, had the pleasure of being selected to participate in the Leadership Development and Medical Education courses! I’m also a member of the House Staff Council and have enjoyed working with leadership to find ways to continuously improve the program. I’ve started my own research projects, including a QI project to help increase colorectal cancer screening rates among underserved populations at our continuity clinics, and have mentored interns on how to start their own projects as well.
During chief year, I want to be a voice for all residents, helping to address concerns, while maintaining the supportive and caring culture of the program. After chief year, I hope to pursue a fellowship in gastroenterology!
I cannot wait to work with my future co-chiefs and am beyond excited for the years ahead!
