Dear Prospective Fellow:
Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Allergy and Immunology Fellowship Training Program at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. I am proud to be the Program Director of this highly competitive and desired fellowship program. Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is ranked in the top 25 of all medical schools in the nation by US News and World Report. This is an exciting time to pursue a career in allergy and immunology with advancements in flow cytometric and genetic data allowing for improved diagnostic capabilities as well as increased use of novel biological therapies. The Mount Sinai Health System is committed to the development of these technologies to improve patient care making our program an ideal place to complete an allergy/immunology fellowship.
We are committed to train fellows in the management of complex atopic and immunologic disorders so they can build a highly successful career in either an academic or clinical setting. The Icahn School of Medicine A/I program provides an integrated education of adult and pediatric clinical experiences with vast research opportunities. Our mission is to prepare fellows to become leaders in the field of allergy and immunology. Our ACGME-accredited program offers two or three year fellowships. Fellows will be eligible for the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI) certification exam upon satisfactory completion of the program requirements.
For the last 25 years, our training program has provided trainees the ability to care for, learn from and treat an exceptionally diverse patient population being located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Our fellows’ learning sits at the nexus of a rigorous clinical training and scholarly activities. With many inpatient and outpatient sites throughout the Mount Sinai Health System, our fellows have more opportunities for a varied clinical experience in asthma, allergic rhinitis, anaphylaxis, atopic dermatitis, drug allergy, eosinophilic esophagitis, food allergy, hereditary angioedema and urticaria and primary immunodeficiency. Our faculty are world renowned for innovation, research, and patient care and provide unparalleled learning experiences for trainees.
Our fellows participate in a number of scholarly activities, ranging from basic immunology to translational projects in allergic or immunologic disease as well as clinical research/trials. All fellows have opportunity to work with our world-class faculty as we believe that these experiences are essential to our fellowship training. Common areas of research include: primary immunodeficiency, food allergy, chronic urticaria/angioedema, and asthma. Our fellows have collaborated with physicians from other disciplines in research, institutional committees, such as antibiotic stewardship, and quality improvement, allowing for endless opportunities.
I invite you to explore our brochure to review the opportunities we offer and submit an ERAS application. Thank you for your interest.
