IBDebrief
Program Overview:
IBDebrief is a grant-funded educational program intended to enhance IBD knowledge among community gastroenterology providers. Participants are invited to submit IBD cases from their own clinical practice that will then be discussed by a panel of expert gastroenterologists, surgeons, and pathologists who specialize in IBD. Each session will also feature a concise review of an IBD-related topic, entitled "Hot Topics in IBD."
Sessions are held on the first Tuesday of every month and will have both in-person and virtual options for attendance.
Patient Recruitment for Study Opportunity

The Women With Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Motherhood (WIsDoM) Study: Focusing on Female Fertility and IBD
Study Overview:
Many patients with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis are women who are diagnosed with the disease during peak childbearing years. Both patients and providers frequently ask whether IBD, IBD surgery, or IBD medications affect a woman’s ability to become pregnant. Despite many advances in the field, there are several important questions about female fertility and IBD that remain unanswered and need further investigation.
The results of this study will help to answer these questions and provide essential information to IBD patients and their care teams in order to ensure that patients are supported while they try to become pregnant and during their pregnancy.
Eligibility:
Patients must be:
- A woman with IBD
- Aged 18 to 45 years old
- Planning to become pregnant in the next 18 months
- Able to consent to participation
- Living in the United States or Canada
What does participation involve?
Once patient provides consent, she will be asked to complete an initial survey, and the research team will contact her to collect information about IBD history. Patient will then be asked to complete monthly surveys while trying to conceive, and then for an additional four months after becoming pregnant. Patient may choose to opt out of the study at any time. Qualifying participants will receive a $100 stipend.
